Full Pivot takes the panorama, and the impossibility embedded in its definition, as a starting point. A vantage point, if you will. Derived from the Greek pan (“all”) and horama (“view”), the term suggests a totalising, complete perspective. In the exhibition, we consider the fractured nature of vision, directed and conditioned by physical and social frameworks. Rather than offering a unified perspective, the exhibition reflects discontinuity, limitation, and shifting viewpoints.

Solo exhibition by Baroeg Mulder

In Partial Coverage, Baroeg Mulder makes a choreographic attempt to capture presence, and we are both witnessing and participating in it. The interchange amongst strangers, or people you know, becomes a readable act. Using broadcasting tools to fragment the surrounding spaces, Partial Coverage builds a rotating narrative that the viewer steps into for a moment.

The sound presented alongside the video in the installation was composed live by Floyd Verbruggen and Maudi Gaillard.

“I woke up this morning to a softly humming silence. 
I woke up this morning to a soft hum of silence.
A low sound, lower than usual. A slow frequency. It must have been the temperature dropping, Frost came to the house last night and slowed everything down. That is what happens when it gets cold; everything goes slower. Even the birds stopped singing for the occasion. Or maybe they still sing but it is too cold for their song to reach my room – sound travels slower in cold air, you know. The glass of water next to the bed was cold as well and I took a sip. It felt like swallowing an ice cube.“*

“Drawing is like running. You fasten your shoelaces, a thin chip falls off from the plastic-covered end of the cotton piece. A piece similar to it is a chip from a pencil you unconsciously bite.’’ *

In Desire Paths, we relate ways of navigating one’s surroundings to drawing practices. There is a similarity between the two in their curiosity, immediacy and pace. This exhibition points out ways in which drawing can be used to navigate surroundings, and how navigating these surroundings can be used to draw.

A group exhibition about pleonasms—the curious, the attendant, the superfluous act of repetition that sneaks into language and meaning. In a world fueled by efficiency, pleonasms represent something that doesn’t quite fit the system with their excessiveness, but they reveal something essential; a desire to reinforce, to underline, to return to the point of departure again. 
“End result.” Redundant or unnecessary? Yes. But also kind of revealing.
